Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Plant (referred to as SAP hereinafter), established in 1980, is the largest domestic manufacturer and solution provider of specialized power station auxiliary equipment and pressure vessels. It has successively introduced advanced technologies from Foster Wheeler, Westinghouse, Sterling Engineering, Stork NV, and Siemens AG, maintaining a leading position domestically in design, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
SAP originated from Yangshupu Road along the Huangpu River, the birthplace of modern Chinese industry, with a history spanning over 80 years. It was formerly known as Shanghai Boiler Factory. In 1980, to meet the needs of specialized production, Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Works was established. In April 2007, Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group formed a joint venture with Siemens, renaming the company Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Plant (SAP). In January 2019, to align with the government's riverside development and the self-development of the auxiliary sector, SAP was relocated and transformed, establishing a new layout with one center (operating center) and one factory (Lingang Factory). The operating center is located at No. 621 Longchang Road, Yangpu District, covering nearly 17,000 square meters, with primary functions in technology R&D, marketing, project management, and integrated services. The Lingang Factory is located at No. 186 Yitian Road, Pudong New Area, covering approximately 210,000 square meters.
Specializing in manufacturing high temperature and high pressure tubular heat exchangers, SAP offers a range of products including high and low pressure heaters, condensers, high and low pressure deaerators and water storage tanks, closed-circuit water heat exchangers, turbine bypass systems, high temperature and high pressure power station valves, chemical water treatment equipment, and nuclear energy containers for 25MW to 1300MW nuclear and thermal power (supercritical and subcritical) units. It is the largest and most diversified professional design and manufacturing company of power station auxiliary equipment in China, with the highest market coverage. It is also the earliest domestic manufacturer to enter the nuclear power sector and successfully develop conventional island and nuclear island equipment for 300MW to 1000MW nuclear power units. As the only large-scale first-grade enterprise in the domestic power station auxiliary equipment industry, it ranks among the top 100 industrial enterprises in Shanghai and the top 500 machinery industries in China. SAP's domestic market share for 300MW to 900MW large auxiliary equipment exceeds 40%, making it a leading player in the domestic and internationally influential power station auxiliary equipment industry.
SAP holds various qualification certificates, including the Special Equipment Design and Manufacture License, Civil Nuclear Safety Equipment Manufacture License, Civil Nuclear Safety Equipment Design License, ASME U and U2 Pressure Vessel Design and Manufacture Authorization Certificates and Code Steel Stamp, and GB/T19001-ISO9001 Quality System Certification.
In recent years, header-type high pressure heaters have replaced U-tube high pressure heaters as the preferred choice for high-parameter and high-capacity units. They are widely applicable, adaptable to frequent startups and shutdowns, and capable of operating under a wide range of loads, making them a trend in the coal-fired power market for heat exchangers.
In terms of nuclear power, SAP has accumulated a team of technical experts and senior technicians with extensive manufacturing experience in project management, design, and team building, maintaining competitiveness through adhering to the spirit of "passing on, helping and leading". It was among the first to successfully obtain design and manufacturing licenses for nuclear class II and III containers as an equipment manufacturer. It has long collaborated with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), and various nuclear power design institutes on trial production of the first set, manufacturing process research, localization promotion, and other projects for nuclear class II and III containers and heat exchangers. SAP has received excellent supplier evaluations from CNNC and CGN customers, as well as positive feedback from users.
Currently, SAP ranks first in the number of auxiliary equipment put into operation annually, with the cumulative number of units put into operation approaching the sum of the next three highest-ranked competitors. According to the annual national power reliability reports published by the China Electricity Council over the past decade, SAP's unplanned outage rate has been nearly the lowest every year, with the fewest unplanned outage hours and the lowest impact due to equipment factors. This demonstrates that SAP's equipment not only significantly outnumbers its competitors in supply but also stands the test of time in the long run.
Entering a new era, SAP revolves around the main theme of "high-quality development" of the Shanghai Electric Group, serving national strategies and closely adhering to national needs. With the goal of cultivating new productive forces, it combines strategic planning and continuously enhances its core competitiveness through the main lines of work "digitalization," "on-site outsourcing," "lean management," and "technological progress," aiming to become an industry leader in providing overall solutions for heat exchanger systems in the energy and industrial sectors.
