Control rod drive mechanism is the key electromechanical equipment for reactor control system and reactor protection system of nuclear power plant, it is also the reactor braking system. Control rod drive mechanism makes reactor control rod assembly withdrawn, inserted, held or fast inserted in core driveline, so as to realize the function of reactor startup, power regulation, power holding and emergency shutdown under accident conditions. Under normal stepping conditions the electromechanical time delay of mechanism shall be no more than 150ms. During stable running, it can make control rod assembly dwell at designated elevation of the core. When scramming or under accident conditions, the drive rods and control rod assembly can be released quickly, the control rods can be inserted into the core in 2 seconds under gravity to ensure the core safety.
Each set of control rod drive mechanism consists of pressure housing assembly, latch assembly, coil stack assembly, drive rod assembly, rod position detector assembly and auxiliary assembly. The core technology includes manufacturing of pressure housing assembly, precision machining of disconnect rod, precision welding, precision assembly and comprehensive test.
